Why 390?

Why 390?
The idea was taken from the "3191" books, which are collections of pictures taken each day at the same time by 2 women who live in Portland, Maine and Portland, Oregon, 3191 miles apart. After my first 2 weeks of living here in Kent, OH I decided that I'd do something similar to keep the people closest to me involved in my life in some way. 390 is the combined total number of miles from Kent to Cincinnati (243 miles) and from Kent to Bowling Green (147 miles). Two place I call home, where I can find friends and family, it seems like a good way to stay connected. Because sometimes, you need to SEE what's going on, more than just a status update from Twitter or Facebook.

I know there was a picture of the desk yesterday... but that was when it was clean, and not being used. Here's a picture of what I spent my lunchtime doing: reading my Research in Music Education book, and eating rice. Mmm, yumm. Next to the bowl of rice is my laptop, which was (and still is) playing a mix of "The Album Leaf" and "Explosions in the Sky". I needed something better to listen to and more conducive to doing homework than hearing the tuba studio across the hall and the choir practicing around the corner. There was a small reward for all the craziness I've put up with this week: Dr. Resta gave me a box of chocolate wafers as a means of congratulations for surviving Week 1. Now the question is, will I successfully be able to survive the rest of the weeks in the semester, and even more questionable... will I get a reward for each week I complete successfully? (probably not, but I can always hope!)
